Tropical American python writhes in pain from attacking… hedgehog

The video below stunned viewers with the image of a tropical American python, also known as a buffalo snake, writhing in pain from being stabbed by porcupine spines when trying to attack to eat it.

This reptile apparently tried to attack to eat the porcupine – but worse happened when its prey defended itself with its sharp feathers.

A man had accidentally seen and recorded its pain. Things got even worse for this reptile when the videographer’s dog started barking and threatened to attack it. The injured snake was forced to curl up to defend itself against the dog.

The American tropical python’s diet usually includes: bats, mice, birds and lizards and they take about 4-6 days to digest food.
