Among the five great game species of Africa, the African buffalo is notorious among big-game hunters for its formidable danger, with injured individuals known to ambush and fiercely attack their pursuers.

In a dramatic encounter, a frail young buffalo, barely able to move, lay near its mother, becoming the target of a lurking leopard hidden in the tall grass nearby.

The mother buffalo, distracted by another leopard, unwittingly left her vulnerable calf, creating the perfect opportunity for the concealed predator to strike.

The young buffalo, too weak to fend off the powerful leopard, was swiftly attacked. Upon realizing the danger, the mother buffalo and her herd charged furiously to rescue the calf.

The leopard, startled by the aggressive onslaught of the massive buffalo herd, refused to surrender its prey. In a desperate bid, it seized the young buffalo and dashed up a tall tree.

Despite the herd’s valiant efforts, they were unable to save the young buffalo. The leopard, displaying remarkable tenacity and cunning, secured its meal high in the branches, out of reach of the buffaloes’ sharp, menacing horns.
