An angry mother cow repeatedly attacked a hungry anaconda after discovering the predator had just killed the calf by strangulation.

Video recorded by a farmer shows an angry mother cow swinging her hooves over the giant python’s head as if to avenge her dead calf. However, the 5-meter-long anaconda was tied to a rope by three farmers and pulled away, showing no fear at the mother’s actions.

Before the attack, the python immediately counterattacked. It tries to bite the mother cow, then begins the process of devouring the bait by opening its mouth wide open near the calf carcass. The mother cow also used all her strength to prevent the predator from approaching and stomped her feet hard on the python. Finally, after many bites from the python, the cow was forced to leave.

The three men in the video were heavily criticized for contributing to the situation. An unnamed farmer who filmed the incident on the northwestern border between Paraguay and Brazil said he was accused by social media users of cruelty to animals and irresponsibility for laughing at the incident.

However, the Paraguayan farmer insists he only laughed because he was so surprised by the height the cow jumped up and impressed by the cow’s angry reaction. According to this person, the group tried to pull the python away from the calf, into a nearby ditch to let it swim, but the python was too strong and struggled to crawl close to the carcass of the calves.
