Amidst the peaceful scenery of the river, tour guide Steyn Jacobson suddenly noticed something strange. The hippos, usually slow and calm, were now agitated, running around a large rock in the middle of the river as if they had detected something unusual.

Jacobson quickly raised his binoculars, and the scene before his eyes made him shiver. On that rock, a male lion – a fearsome predator of the savannah – was trapped and facing danger. Suddenly, from behind, a giant hippo rushed forward like a madman, attacking the lion head-on.

With no other choice, the lion was forced to jump into the cold water to find a way to escape. But it was not easy, the herd of hippos continued to chase, in which a larger one quickly dashed across the water, trying to corner the lion. However, thanks to their fierce survival instinct, the lions escaped and swam to safety, leaving behind their giant jaws ready to crush everything.

Hippos, with their large appearance and seemingly gentle demeanor, are one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. They are considered the third largest land mammal, behind only elephants and white rhinos. But what is more frightening is their unexpected ferocity. In particular, when their territory is invaded or their young are threatened, the giant jaws of hippos can crush a three-meter-long crocodile in just one bite.

Weighing up to 1.5 tons and with sharp teeth, they are not only a great threat to predators, but can also create fear in any creature that dares to challenge them. They are the embodiment of wild power and the fear of nature.
